Cowboys rookie WR Dez Bryant is making a rapid recovery from a sprained right ankle and is optimistic that he'll be able to play in one or two preseason games.

Bryant was injured July 30, and the initial prognosis was that he might miss up to six weeks, which would have kept him out of the entire preseason. Now, though, he expects to play in the Sept. 2 preseason finale against Miami and maybe even the Aug. 28 game vs. Houston.

After wearing a walking boot on the sideline of Dallas' loss to Oakland on Thursday night, Bryant was given the OK to remove the boot Saturday. He was wearing cleats during both practices, doing aerobic work and some rehabilitative exercises.

Once healthy, Bryant is expected to challenge veteran Roy Williams for a starting WR spot opposite Miles Austin.
