Panthers OLT Jordan Gross' start to the preseason was ugly, but we hear the team is not panicking about his future. Gross, who missed the final seven games of last season with a broken tibia, was flagged for two holding penalties and a false start in the first quarter of Carolina's loss to Baltimore on Aug. 12. It was a surprisingly poor performance by the eighth-year veteran. A training-camp observer said Gross has looked good in one-on-one pass-rush drills. It could take him some time to get back to his usual form, but he'll get plenty of opportunities to work out the kinks with three preseason games left. A bigger concern on the offensive line is at right guard, where second-year veteran Duke Robinson struggled against the Ravens. Robinson, who didn't play in any games as a rookie, allowed two sacks and did nothing to help his chances of winning the starting job.
