Saints RB Lynell Hamilton tore the ACL in his right knee at practice Wednesday, the team has confirmed, and he is almost certainly done for the season.
Hamilton reportedly fell to the ground after planting his leg during a half-speed drill. He was untouched, but his knee buckled. The third-year back was helped off the field. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirmed that Hamilton had torn the ACL.
The Saints could now look to the free-agent market to replace Hamilton, who had been expected to help replace Mike Bell, who signed with the Eagles this offseason. Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush top the team's RB depth chart.
