The Chargers announced Tuesday that they have signed free-agent S Quinton Teal to a two-year contract.
Teal, 26, entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and spent his first three seasons with the Panthers. He played in all 16 games in ’09, starting the first three, and recorded 15 tackles and a fumble recovery on defense and eight tackles on special teams. Teal played in 44 games over three years with the Panthers, primarily on special teams, and recorded 26 tackles on those units.
Not tendered as a restricted free agent this offseason, Teal signed with the Seahawks in April but was cut in early June. Injuries have caused the Chargers to be thin in the secondary, so Teal will provide depth for them in training camp.
