Browns CB Gerard Lawson was arrested on drunken driving and other charges Sunday morning in Cleveland, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported. He was released from Cleveland's city jail on Monday after posting bond, The Plain Dealer reported.

According to The Plain Dealer, Lawson was charged with drunken driving, failure to stop after an accident, failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to control after Cleveland police allege he hit a car in the city's Warehouse District early Sunday morning and did not stop.

Lawson, 25, played five games for the Browns last season. He primarily played on special teams and had one tackle on defense. He appeared in 15 games for Cleveland in 2008 after making the club as an undrafted free agent. He played collegiately at Oregon State.

"We are aware of the situation with Gerard and are continuing to gather all the information," Browns general manager Tom Heckert said, according to The Plain Dealer. "Until we have done that, we will not make any further comment."
