Dolphins rookie LB Edds tears ACL

The Dolphins have lost rookie LB A.J. Edds, a fourth-round pick, for the season.

Edds tore the ACL in his right knee during a Monday practice. He had impressed head coach Tony Sparano during the offseason and was expected to contribute on special teams and in the nickel defense.

Edds, who made five interceptions last season for Iowa, is considered a coverage specialist.
