The Chiefs announced Thursday that they have signed 2010 third-round draft pick OG Jon Asamoah. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Asamoah, the first of Kansas City's two third-round picks and the 68th selection overall, played in 42 games (37 starts) at Illinois, opening every contest during his final three seasons. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior and also received the 2010 Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor for his achievements on the football field and in the classroom.

In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that the 6-4, 305-pound Asamoah is "quick-footed to beat his man to (the) point, gain position and sustain" but "plays too upright and cannot adjust."

Asamoah is expected to back up the guard position as a rookie.
