Despite reports that Keith Bulluck is set to end the competition at middle linebacker for the Giants, we hear those reports are far too premature. First, Bulluck must show he is fully mended from ACL surgery seven months ago. Bulluck has been confident about the condition of his knee to the media, but head coach Tom Coughlin is planning on playing Bulluck only once a day when the Giants have multiple-practice days and hinted he might give some leeway when it comes to passing the team's conditioning test at the outset of camp. Bulluck is the clear favorite at the position, despite having played mostly at the "Will" spot in Tennessee, over Jonathan Goff, rookie Phillip Dillard, Chase Blackburn and Gerris Wilkinson. But that doesn't mean Bulluck has been given the job from the outset. Some have suggested that Bulluck's best contribution might be on the nickel defense. With the Titans, he shifted over from the weak side to the middle in the team's five-DB packages and might be the Giants' best option when they use similar personnel groupings.
