The Steelers have signed director of football operations Kevin Colbert to a five-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

"We are very pleased to announce that Kevin Colbert will remain with the Steelers for at least several more years," said Steelers president Art Rooney II. "Kevin is without question one of the best in the NFL at his job, and we are fortunate that he will continue to lead our football operations into the future."

The Steelers did not release financial terms of the agreement with Colbert.

Colbert, 53, has been in his position since 2000. The Steelers have won two Super Bowls during his tenure.

Last week, the Steelers announced the signing of head coach Mike Tomlin to a contract extension through the 2012 season. There is an option to extend the contract through 2013.
