The Jets signed QB Mark Brunell late Wednesday after months of rumors that he would end up with the team.

Reports indicate the 39-year-old agreed to a two-year deal. The Jets have five quarterbacks under contract, as Brunell, Erik Ainge, Kevin O'Connell and Kellen Clemens are expected to compete to back up Mark Sanchez.

Brunell spent the last two seasons with the Saints and hasn't been a regular starter since 2006, when he was with the Redskins.
