The Titans sued the University of Southern California and head coach Lane Kiffin in Davidson County (Tenn.) Chancery Court on Monday, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported. The lawsuit alleges Kiffin and USC persuaded former Titans RB coach Kennedy Pola to breach his contract with Tennessee, according to The Tennessean report.

Pola accepted USC's offensive coordinator job on Saturday, angering Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, who strongly criticized Kiffin for not asking him for permission to interview Pola, The Tennessean reported Saturday.

According to The Tennessean, the lawsuit filed Monday alleges that "Kiffin and USC's actions through him were part of a course and pattern of conduct fostered by Kiffin and USC to use improper methods and means to the direct harm and damage of parties to contract; to interfere with an existing contract includes the breach thereof."

The lawsuit, according to The Tennessean, also alleges that Pola, per his contract with the Titans, agreed he would "not under any circumstance solicit discussions or entertain employment with any other person or entity during the term without (being) given written permission to do so."
