The Titans have lost their RB coach, and they're not happy about the way it happened.

Kennedy Pola, who had been with Tennessee only since January, is leaving the team to become offensive coordinator on Lane Kiffin's staff at USC. Pola told Titans head coach Jeff Fisher of his decision Saturday morning.

USC didn't contact the Titans before the hiring, according to The Tennessean, and that didn't sit well with Fisher, who is an alumnus of USC.

"I am very disappointed in Lane Kiffin's approach to this," Fisher told The Tennessean. "Typically speaking when coaches are interested in hiring or discussing potential employment from coaches on respective staffs there is a courtesy call made from the head coach or athletic director indicating there is an interest in talking to the assistant.

"So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voice mail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism."

The Titans begin training camp next Saturday at Baptist Sports Park in Nashville.

Pola played fullback at USC from 1982-85 and later coached the Trojans' running backs and special teams from 2000-03. He coached the Jaguars' running backs for five years before joining the Titans.

Kiffin left the University of Tennessee in January after only one season (7-6 record) to replace Pete Carroll at USC. Kiffin coached the NFL's Raiders for 20 games before being fired by owner Al Davis early in the 2008 season in a bitter public parting.
