The Chiefs announced Thursday that they have agreed to terms with 2010 third-round draft pick TE Tony Moeaki. Details of the contract were not disclosed.
Moeaki, the second of Kansas City's two third-round picks and the 93rd selection overall, saw action in 48 games (15 starts) at Iowa, catching 76 passes for 953 yards with 11 TDs. He started 10 games for the Hawkeyes as a senior in 2009, producing 30 receptions for 387 yards with four TDs.
In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that the 6-3, 252-pound Moeaki "concentrates in traffic and shows nice eye-hand coordination" but "is injury-prone and durability is a major concern."
Moeaki, who impressed with his pass-catching ability in offseason practices, is expected to compete for the starting TE job with Leonard Pope in training camp.
