The Chiefs announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with 2010 fifth-round draft pick OLB Cameron Sheffield. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sheffield, the team's second pick in the fifth round and the 142nd selection overall, saw action in 47 games (37 starts) at Troy, recording 161 tackles (109 solo) with 15 sacks and 28½ tackles for loss. He added 55 QB pressures, an interception, eight passes defended, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that the 6-2, 257-pound Sheffield has "good lateral agility" but "does not explode off the ball or accelerate off blocks."

A collegiate defensive end, Sheffield is converting to outside linebacker in the Chiefs' 3-4 scheme. He's expected to be worked into the rotation slowly as a rookie.
