The Bills announced Monday that they have agreed to terms with 2010 third-round draft pick DE Alex Carrington. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Carrington, the 72nd overall selection, started 42-of-44 games at Arkansas State, where he totaled 146 tackles (95 solo) and 21½ sacks. The 6-5, 284-pound defensive end tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead with nine sacks in 2009, earning All-SBC first-team accolades and being named male athlete of the year.

In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Carrington "flashes legit power to push the pocket and raw, brute strength to anchor and leverage the edge and hold the point" but "does not play physical, gingerly approaches a pile and is too comfortable being late to arrive."
Carrington is expected to be heavily involved in the team's defensive end rotation as it switches to a 3-4 scheme. He is the seventh of the Bills’ nine draft picks to sign.
