The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Packers third-round S Morgan Burnett has signed a four-year contract. Burnett, who registered 11 interceptions in his final two years at Georgia Tech, is expected to challenge Atari Bigby, who has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender, for Green Bay’s starting job at strong safety.
Burnett has proven to be a quick study with excellent playmaking skills in early-offseason Packers practice sessions. In Pro Football Weekly’s 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Burnett is an ”explosive athlete — quick-footed and agile with outstanding speed.”
