The Bengals signed rookie DT Geno Atkins, a fourth-round pick from Georgia, the club announced via its official Twitter feed on Friday.
According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Atkins' contract is for four years and $2.262 million and includes a signing bonus of $472,450. NationalFootballPost.com first reported Atkins' signing, according to the Enquirer, which also reported the signing.
The 6-1, 290-pound Atkins was described in PFW's 2010 Draft Preview as an "undersized, explosively quick, one-gap penetrator" whose "value is limited by his lack of stamina and inability to be an every-down player."
The son of former of Dolphins and Saints S Gene Atkins, Geno Atkins recorded 36 tackles and three sacks as a senior at Georgia.
The Bengals have signed three of their nine draft picks: Atkins, OG Otis Hudson (Round Five) and WR Dezmon Briscoe (Round Six).
