Despite some campaigning from Terrell Owens, who has yet to sign with a team and is trying to dispel his reputation as a clubhouse cancer, it appears unlikely he would make a good fit with the Patriots. Owens told WJMN Radio that he'd "definitely be open to" playing for the Patriots, but it appears they already found their veteran receiver this offseason in Torry Holt, who has taken most of the first-team reps with Wes Welker still working his way back from knee surgery. With Randy Moss, 33, in the final year of his deal, it's unlikely the Patriots would offer a contract to Owens, 36, even though they have few sure things at the position. But Julian Edelman was promising last season, displaying some Welker-like skills, and Brandon Tate has the speed and playmaking ability to grab one of the top three WR spots. Tate has run well this offseason after coming off a knee injury. Although Owens' skills would be interesting to watch in a Patriots uniform, it doesn't appear that is a likely route right now.
