The Jaguars signed fifth-round DE Larry Hart to a contract Tuesday. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. Hart is the first of Jacksonville's six 2010 draft picks to sign.
After playing two seasons at Holmes Community College (Miss.), Hart transferred to Central Arkansas, where he flourished as a pass rusher, recording 21½ sacks and 31½ tackles for loss in two seasons.
In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that the 6-foot, 248-pound Hart "shows a quick first step and flies upfield" and "can flatten and close hard down the line."
Hart and fellow rookie fifth-rounder Austen Lane will have a chance to contribute immediately as part of the Jaguars' new-look front four. The club is desperately seeking pass rushers after recording a league-low 14 sacks in 2009.
