The Patriots announced Monday that they have signed seventh-round draft choice Brandon Deaderick, a defensive lineman from Alabama. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Deaderick, a 6-4, 305-pounder, is the sixth member of New England's 12 2010 draft choices to sign with the team, joining WR Taylor Price (third round), TE Aaron Hernandez (fourth round), P Zoltan Mesko (fifth round), OL Ted Larsen (sixth round) and OL Thomas Welch (seventh round).
In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Deaderick, who started 31-of-44 career games for Nick Saban at Alabama, has "good anchor strength — is strong at the point and can occupy blockers" and is "versatile and has lined up all along the defensive line." Both attributes should serve him well in the Patriots' 3-4 scheme.
