Redskins OG-OT Mike Williams, who was to contend for a starting job at right guard, is expected to miss the 2010 season due to blood clots near his heart, The Washington Post reported Friday night, citing "two people familiar with the situation."

In an interview with Chris Russell, a reporter at 106.7 FM "The Fan" in Washington, D.C., Williams confirmed he was likely out for the season but expressed hope he could play again.

According to The Post, Williams, 30, was recently hospitalized for the condition, which could be career-threatening, according to the report.

Williams played nine games for the Redskins last season, logging five starts at right guard and three at right tackle. The Bills' No. 1 pick in 2002, Williams signed with Washington in April 2009 after being out of football the previous two years.
