The Buccaneers plan to use a three-safety rotation consisting of Tanard Jackson, the starting free safety, and strong safeties Sean Jones and Sabby Piscitelli this season, but indications are Jones will replace Piscitelli as the starting strong safety, as some expected as soon as Jones signed with the team this offseason. Head coach Raheem Morris said Jones and Piscitelli are going to compete in training camp for the top spot on the depth chart and praised both of them for their work in minicamps and OTAs. While the team is emphasizing competition, some have argued that Morris is trying to sell a less-than-legitimate battle. Piscitelli made mistakes in coverage and when attempting tackles in 2009, his first year as a starter. Jones is more experienced, a surer tackler and the team likes his playmaking ability. Barring a poor camp and preseason performance, Jones will be in the Week One starting lineup.
