The NFL has suspended Falcons LB Robert James for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, a league spokesperson announced Thursday.
James, a fifth-round pick in 2008, will serve a four-game suspension. He's allowed to participate in training camp and preseason games, but the suspension will begin on Sept. 4. He's eligible to return to the Falcons on Oct. 4.
He spent the ’08 season on injured reserve after suffering a concussion and was active for only one game in ’09.
