Steelers ORT Willie Colon will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair an Achilles tendon he tore during a workout Monday morning, effectively ending his 2010 season.
Although the Steelers haven't officially ruled Colon out for the entire season, the recovery time from such surgery is 9-12 months, according to his agent, Joe Linta, who called the injury a "classic torn Achilles. Linta said the surgery would have no impact on Colon's future as a player, according to the surgeon, Dr. James Bradley. Colon is due to become a free agent after the 2010 season.
Colon, 27, has been the Steelers' starter at right tackle for the past three seasons. He has started all 16 regular-season games in each of the last three years. He took over for Max Starks, who eventually moved to left tackle.
The Steelers brought in free-agent OT Flozell Adams, a former Cowboy, for a visit Tuesday.
Also, rookie OT Chris Scott, a fifth-round pick, will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a right foot injury that occurred while he was training in Tennessee.
