The Texans signed OG Shelley Smith, a sixth-round pick from Colorado State, on Wednesday.
The 6-4, 308-pound Smith started 31 games with the Rams. He will contend to be a reserve on Houston's offensive line.
In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, PFW personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki described Smith as "a weak-side pulling guard and solid pass protector with enough athletic ability to develop into a functional backup guard in a zone-blocking scheme."
Houston has signed five of its nine draft picks.
