The Browns released eight players on Thursday, most notably PK Shaun Suisham, who had been signed in May ostensibly to compete with Phil Dawson, the franchise's full-time kicker since the Browns returned to NFL play in 1999. Cleveland terminated Suisham's contract.

The Browns waived DB John Bowie, RB Thomas Brown, DB Benjamin Burney, OT Jason Capizzi, LB Auston English, WR James Robinson and DB Ramzee Robinson.

Bowie is best-known for being the player the Raiders selected with the draft pick acquired for WR Randy Moss in 2007. Ramzee Robinson was "Mr. Irrelevant" of the '07 draft — the moniker given to the final player selected.
