Williams should start on nose for Cardinals

Despite head coach Ken Whisenhunt's tendency to gradually work even first-round draft picks into starting roles, team sources believe 2010 No. 1 pick Dan Williams will have to look "pretty bad" not to win the starting NT job from incumbent Bryan Robinson. "No offense to Bryan, but Williams should be the starter in the base 3-4, which they use about 30 percent of the time," said one team insider. "He's in real good shape, with no fat at all. And he seems like a smart guy who wants to be good." The insider also praised second-round ILB Daryl Washington's eagerness to learn, as well as Washington's speed and athleticism, which he says Cardinals coaches have commented on more than a little. "But I think they will start Washington out in certain sub packages and see how he progresses," the insider said. The consensus seems to be that Washington will progress enough to likely replace free-agent addition Paris Lenon as the starting weak inside linebacker at some point this coming season.
