Titans CB Rod Hood sustained a season-ending knee injury in a workout Friday, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported on its @tnsports Twitter feed Monday.

Hood, who was competing to start at left cornerback, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, The Tennessean reported.

Hood, 28, played six games for the Titans in 2009, intercepting three passes (one TD). The 5-11, 198-pound Hood has made 47 career starts and racked up 14 interceptions in seven previous NFL seasons.

Jason McCourty, Ryan Mouton, Alterraun Verner and Tye Hill are the primary candidates to start at left cornerback. Cortland Finnegan is the Titans' starting right cornerback.
