The Cardinals announced that restricted free-agent OG Deuce Lutui finally signed his one-year qualifying offer of $1.76 million one day before the designated deadline.

A four-year starter and local product (from Mesa), Lutui desires a long-term deal. But with higher priorities for other players seeking new contracts, the Cardinals do not appear overly anxious to negotiate a new deal for Lutui at this time.

Lutui, who had a solid season in ’09 as the Cardinals’ starting right guard, hired a new agent a couple of weeks ago, replacing Max Hannemann with Ken Harris.

Lutui now faces an uphill battle as far as getting the starting ORG role back, with both Reggie Wells, who switched to right guard after the free-agent signing of Alan Faneca, and free-agent addition Rex Hadnot both making serious bids for the job.
