Panthers WLB Thomas Davis tore his right ACL for the second time in seven months during OTAs Tuesday and he could miss the entire 2010 season.
Carolina is holding out hope that Thomas, who signed his restricted free-agent tender Tuesday, will be able to return at some point during the season. The team is reportedly considering placing him on the physically-unable-to-perform list, which will give the Panthers a roster exemption for up to nine weeks before they have to make a decision on whether to place him on injured reserve.
Davis sustained the injury Tuesday during non-contact drills.
