The Steelers announced Tuesday that they have signed veteran LS-LB Matt Stewart to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stewart, a 6-3, 236-pounder out of Vanderbilt, was originally drafted as a linebacker by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2001 draft. The six-year veteran played two years with Atlanta before playing three seasons in Cleveland. He also was in the Cardinals' training camp in 2008 and the Cowboys' camp in ’09.

Pittsburgh made room for Stewart on its roster by releasing veteran LS Jared Retkofsky.
