One week before the Panthers would be able to reduce their offer and maintain exclusive rights to CB Richard Marshall and WLB Thomas Davis, both players decided to sign the restricted free-agent tenders Tuesday, according to a Charlotte Observer report.

Davis was tendered at the highest level possible and his one-year deal is for $3.268 million. He tore his ACL last season and apparently tweaked the surgically repaired knee at practice Tuesday. Reports indicate tests were done on the knee, but the results are not yet available.

Marshall's one-year deal is for $1.759 million. He became a full-time starter last season and should continue to start opposite CB Chris Gamble.

Both players were hoping for long-term contract offers. The Panthers could have reduced their tender offers to 110 percent of the players' 2009 salaries on June 15.
