After holding off for months, Chargers WR Malcom Floyd signed his one-year restricted free agent tender on Monday. He will earn $3.168 million for the 2010 season.
Floyd, 28, has spent his entire pro career in San Diego, playing mostly special teams but emerging as more of a pass-catching threat over the past two seasons. Taking over as a starter halfway through '09, he finished the campaign with 45 catches for 776 yards and one touchdown.
Upset that he had not received an offer for a long-term deal, the 6-5, 225-pound Floyd had not partcipated in any of the Chargers' offseason activities before reporting Monday for the final week of OTAs. The big, speedy wideout is slated to start for the team this season.
Floyd’s signing leaves the Chargers with three unsigned restricted free agents — WR Vincent Jackson, OT Marcus McNeill and OLB Shawne Merriman.
