Keep an eye on Giants WR Barden

Second-year WR Ramses Barden, who had a strong training camp as a rookie but barely made a ripple when the games counted, has re-emerged this offseason. All reports from Giants camp are that Barden is having a very solid spring. He has shown great balance and hands and has made several very good receptions. Barden (6-6, 227) certainly has some obstacles to overcome, seeing as how Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham are all entrenched ahead of him on the depth chart, but there is room for a tall receiver with an expansive catching radius to do good work, especially in the red zone. The Giants did not run the ball as well in that area of the field, which the Giants call the "green zone," and Barden could be a serious weapon on the outside. But getting on the field more (he played in three games and had one reception last season) likely requires him to make a greater contribution on special teams, too. We hear the team is working hard with him on that.
