The Broncos announced they have signed CB Syd’Quan Thompson, the 225th overall pick (seventh round) in the draft.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Thompson was named first-team all-Pac-10 his final two seasons at Cal and set school marks for games started (52) and passes broken up (36).

In PFW's 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that the 5-9, 187-pound Thompson is an “undersized, feisty, throwback-type slot defender and punt returner with exceptional heart and football character” but that he “needs to get stronger” and is “not an elite athlete.”
