The Bears announced that restricted free agent S Danieal Manning signed his one-year tender offer. In four years with the Bears, Manning has started 40-of-61 games played, totaling 286 tackles, six interceptions, six forced fumbles. three fumble recoveries, two sacks and 14 pass breakups. On special teams, Manning has returned 68 kickoffs for 1,895 yards (27.9 ypr) with one touchdown and recorded 21 special-teams stops.
In 2008, he led the NFL with a 29.7 kickoff return average (1,070 yards on 36 returns). Manning’s 11 kickoff returns of 40-plus yards over the last two seasons (2008-09) are tops in the NFL.
