Texans WR Andre Johnson skipped the beginning of the Texans' OTAs on Monday to express his displeasure with his contract, The Houston Chronicle reported.
Johnson, who is slated to make $5.8 million this year, renegotiated his contract in 2008, receiving a $6.5 million signing bonus. He signed an eight-year, $60 million contract that reportedly included $15 million in guarantees in 2007. Johnson is signed through 2014.
This is the first of four OTAs, or organized team activities, for the Texans. They are voluntary workouts. The Texans' mandatory minicamp is June 14-16.
According to the Chronicle, Texans GM Rick Smith plans to meet with Johnson and has been in contact with him.
