We know that Louis Delmas will be one of the starting safeties for the Lions after a very solid rookie season. But who will line up next to him? The list, if nothing else, is long, though hardly distinguished. The most likely candidates are Daniel Bullocks, Marquand Manuel, C.C. Brown, Marvin White and Ko Simpson. Bullocks and Simpson are former starters — Bullocks most recently in 2008, Simpson for five games last season — who are coming off major knee injuries. And though Simpson might not be ready to go by the start of camp, Bullocks is someone to watch. In a mild surprise, the team tendered him this offseason although he had missed two of the past three seasons, and he has a decent shot at earning the job. Manuel and the recently signed Brown are one-dimensional players who won't be considered favorites to earn a starting nod, and White, who played poorly most of last season, might be the least likely of the group to win the job.
