Expect Eagles to use some 3-4 looks

The Eagles using a 3-4 defense? That would mostly fly in the face of the classic Jim Johnson scheme, which is based on a four-man front, but coordinator Sean McDermott appears ready to experiment with some 3-4 alignments in training camp. Johnson only briefly flirted with the 3-4, sprinkling in some of it over the years, and McDermott didn't use it much at all in his first season running the defense. But with greater defensive depth in the front seven, the Eagles appear to have some of the personnel to try this out. DE Trent Cole, for instance, has stood up on many occasions and would be a natural fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker. But the pieces up front are the ones that remain in question, specifically on the nose, which is considered the crucial point for that front. Although Brodrick Bunkley could handle duty playing over the center and taking up two gaps, we hear the team also is intrigued by Antonio Dixon, the team's biggest defensive tackle, as a possible nose tackle.
