The Bills announced Tuesday that they have signed RB-KR Chad Simpson. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Simpson, 24, entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2008 with the Colts. He spent the past two seasons in Indianapolis, acting as the team's primary kickoff returner in '09, when he returned 38 kicks for an average of 23.6 yards, taking one back for a touchdown. He also saw some action in the backfield, rushing for two TDs this past season. Simpson became a free agent when he was released in April.
Simpson will have an uphill battle to make the roster in Buffalo. The Bills already have talented kick returners in Leodis McKelvin and Fred Jackson, and they added another potential impact return man in first-round pick C.J. Spiller. The club also has one of the league's deepest backfields.
The Bills also announced that they have released DT Marlon Favorite, who was signed in March.
