The Journal News of New York's Hudson Valley is reporting that ex-Giants great Lawrence Taylor has been arrested for a felony rape charge involving an attack on a 15-year-old girl.

According to authorities, the girl allegedly is a runaway from New York City who was brought by a pimp to a Holiday Inn in Ramapo, N.Y., where Taylor was staying.

The 51-year-old Hall of Fame linebacker is being held in the town police lockup pending arraignment in Ramapo Justice Court Thursday afternoon. One of the charges being considered is third-degree rape, which involves having intercourse with a minor.

"We firmly contend he is innocent of the charges and will be fully exonerated," said Kenneth Gribetz, Taylor's attorney.

Ramapo police are planning to provide more details regarding the case at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
