The Saints have signed restricted free-agent OG Jahri Evans to the richest contract ever for an interior offensive lineman, NFL.com and ESPN are reporting.

Evans has agreed to a seven-year deal worth $56.7 million, according to the reports, which would be the highest annual average salary ever for an interior lineman. The Saints had yet to confirm the signing.

Evans, a fifth-year veteran who would have qualified for unrestricted free agency this year had a Collective Bargaining Agreement been in place, has started every game during his four seasons. He was voted to the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America All-NFL team at the conclusion of last season and was also named to his first Pro Bowl en route to a Super Bowl victory.

In other Saints news, the team claimed RB P.J. Hill off waivers from Washington on Tuesday. The Saints originally signed Hill as a rookie free agent following the 2009 draft, but after six weeks on their practice squad, Philadelphia signed him to its active roster. After seven weeks on the Eagles' roster, they moved him to their practice squad. The Redskins signed him to their active roster for Week 17.
