The Cardinals announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran NT Bryan Robinson, who had been an unrestricted free agent. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

The 6-4, 304-pound Robinson is entering his 14th year in the NFL after playing the past two seasons with the Cardinals, where he started 30 of 32 regular-season games and collected 54 tackles (35 solos), two sacks and one fumble recovery. Robinson originally signed with the Cardinals in 2008 after previous stops with the Bengals (2005-07), Dolphins (2004), Bears (1998-2003), and Rams (1997).

The early indication is that the 35-year old Robinson, who has remained effective as the team’s starting nose tackle despite getting up in years, will relinquish the starting role to first-round draft pick Dan Williams and become a valuable mentor to Williams.

In a recent phone interview with Pro Football Weekly, Cardinals third-year DE Calais Campbell spoke glowingly about Robinson’s importance to the team in a leadership capacity. “He would make a great coach,” Campbell said of
Robinson.
