The Bengals claimed RB Cedric Peerman off waivers on Tuesday. The Lions released the 24-year-old back on Monday.
Peerman appeared in two games for Detroit in 2009 after stints with Baltimore and Cleveland. He was a sixth-round pick of the Ravens last April.
The 5-foot-9, 210-pound Peerman will compete for a reserve role with Cincinnati. The Bengals appear set at the top three RB positions, with Cedric Benson the clear-cut starter and Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard the next two options off the bench.
