The Steelers acquired CB Bryant McFadden from the Cardinals for a fifth-round pick on Saturday. McFadden played for Pittsburgh, which also received a sixth-round selection from Arizona in the deal, from 2005-08.
McFadden, 28, started all 16 games for Arizona in 2009 after signing with the Cardinals as a free agent last offseason. McFadden set career-highs in tackles (69) and passes defended (15) in 2009.
McFadden joins a Pittsburgh secondary that struggled at times last season, and it's conceivable he could push William Gay for a starting job. Gay and McFadden shared playing time at points in 2008.
McFadden, a second-round selection of Pittsburgh in 2005, has made 34 career starts and has seven interceptions. He is the third former player the Steelers have reacquired in the offseason. The Steelers signed WR Antwaan Randle El and LB Larry Foote in March.
