Not long after acquiring LenDale White from the Titans, the Seahawks traded for another backfield weapon late Saturday morning, picking up RB-RS Leon Washington from the Jets in exchange for Seattle’s fifth-round draft pick.

If Washington is healthy, he adds a lightning-quick dimension as a third-down back and a kick-return specialist in Seattle. But it remains to be seen if he will be sufficiently recovered from a gruesome compound fracture of his leg suffered in Week Seven of the 2009 season against the Raiders.

Washington is saying that he should be fully recovered from his broken leg in time for the 2010 season. If that does indeed end up being the case, he would figure to replace Justin Forsett, who became Seattle’s most effective running back last season, as the Seahawks’ primary kick returner.
