Much of the offseason has been spent with the Giants trying to dissect how their defense allowed the third-most points in the NFL despite a lot of talent. The reasons have been discussed in great detail, but most of that doesn't matter now. The team and new coordinator Perry Fewell know that they will face two tough, but very different, challenges to open next season. The Panthers, who thumped the Giants in their final game at the old Giants Stadium with a devastating running attack, are up in Week One. And in Week Two, the Giants get one of the most sophisticated and devastating passing games in the Colts. That will force the team to answer quickly the many questions they have heading into the season. Right away, questions over what the defensive line rotation will look like, who will start inside at middle linebacker and the safety situation — all will be front and center.
