The Bengals signed PK Mike Nugent on Friday. According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Nugent, an Ohio State product, signed a two-year contract. He will compete with Dave Rayner for Cincinnati's PK job.
Nugent, a second-round pick of the Jets in 2005, spent four seasons with New York, connecting on 75-of-91 field goals (82.4 percent). He signed with Tampa Bay last offseason but was cut after hitting only two of six field goals in four games. Nugent, 28, had a two-game stint later in the season with the Cardinals, who needed a replacement for the injured Neil Rackers. Nugent hit both FG attempts with Arizona.
The Bengals' kicker of a season ago, Shayne Graham, remains an unrestricted free agent.
