Hoping to build on his first season in Denver, Broncos QB Kyle Orton signed his restricted free-agent tender Friday. The one-year deal is for $2.621 million.

Orton's production declined late last season and the team opted not to offer him a long-term deal. The 27-year-old set career highs in completion percentage (62.1), yards (3,802) and touchdowns (21).

The Broncos acquired Brady Quinn from the Browns last month, but head coach Josh McDaniels has said there is no competition for the starting job, as Orton will open the season at the top of the depth chart.
