The Titans agreed to terms with QB Chris Simms on Monday.

This will be Simms' second stint with the Titans. He played one game with Tennessee in 2008, completing 1-of-2 passes for seven yards. Simms could compete with Kerry Collins to be the Titans' top backup, or he could inherit the role if Collins, who is slated to make $5.5 million in 2010, is cut. Late last season, Collins indicated he might have to take a pay cut to remain with Tennessee.

"I'm supposed to make a pretty good chunk of change next year, so I can't imagine they're going to pay me that kind of money to be a backup," he said.

Simms, 29, has made 16 career starts in seven previous NFL seasons. He played last season in Denver, making one start in place of the injured Kyle Orton, who relieved Simms later in the game. The Broncos released Simms on March 15.
